This training package is designed to build your skills, knowledge and confidence in dealing effectively with people affected by domestic violence. Because domestic violence impacts on all family members this package is essential for all people who work with children, young people or adults. It will bring you up-to-date on all relevant procedures, legislation and guidance and help you and your agency to meet statutory requirements. This training package has been designed in response to past and recent tragedies (e.g. James Bulger 1993, Baby Peter 2008) which highlighted deficiencies in multi-agency cooperation and communication. We look at key issues such as the types of barriers which prevent inter-agency cooperation as well the best methods for communicating with key stakeholders and partners. It also looks at the information sharing requirements of varied organisations such as MARACs, Safe Guarding Children Boards, Family Intervention Programmes and Domestic Violence Forums. It will bring you up-to-date on all relevant procedures, legislation and guidance and help you and your agency to meetstatutory requirements.
